This was the work that I have accomplished during my internship at IDVC. Inc (Speedtree division) There was four major thing that I had to accomplish with each tree that I designed.
First, was to research real trees, find out what the leaf textures were. What color do they turn through out the year, and if they lost their leaves during the winter. I also had to research the bark textures that went with the trees.
Second, was to then design a high resolution (I.E. 5,000 to 7,000 polygon count) of that tree after the research was complete.
Third, was to then take that high resolution tree and chop it down to a low resolution (i.e. 700 to 1,000 polygon count) of version of that tree so it could be implemented into video games. But, there was a catch with the low resolution tree for I had to make sure that it still looked like it was a high resolution tree. Can you guess which is high resolution and which is low resolution?
Finally, I had to up load the imaged of both the high res and low res trees to their website after approval. I managed to finish 13 species of trees with high and low res in all four seasons. 104 trees (8x13) in all for that summer.
